For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. ~ Isaiah 64:3,4 (NIV) As time goes on, I’ve realized that aging uncovers a lot about who we truly are. One of the most valuable things I’ve learned in my lifetime is that my greatest gifts are my joy for living, my quest for inner peace, and my ability to offer silence and solitude, all while embracing a sense of well-being when these elements come together.
When I reflect and ask, “Who helps me the most?” My answer is, “The person who is willing to share their life with me.” Jesus came to walk alongside us, to hear our stories, and help us realize that we are not aimlessly wandering but moving toward peace and joy. We are never alone on this journey. The God of love, who gave us life, sent someone to be with us always, ensuring we never feel lost and constantly reminding us that God is with us through everything. The challenge lies in letting God be who God wants to be. Sometimes we cling to our loneliness, blocking God from touching us in our deepest pain. We often hide from God in our guilt, shame, and confusion, seeking isolation even as God tirelessly pursues us. These moments leave us feeling nothing but loneliness. During Easter, we are invited to let the resurrected Christ into every moment, even the difficult ones where we fear letting Him in. Jesus calls us to companionship, surrounding us with a love beyond what our hearts and minds can comprehend. Stay in God's grip! Todd Rev. G. Todd Williams, MDiv. (c) 2025
